VVV (Zero) is the third iteration of a system originally conceived for the Torreão da Mãe de Água in Aveiro, an installation that used the entire space as a sounding board that could be walked through and explored, discovering each of the sound sources at different levels of the building. In this iteration, for a group exhibition at the Museu Zer0, the relationship between two groups of sound sources is maintained: a suspended speaker and a trio of speakers resting on the ground plane. Between the two groups, a continuous dialogue unfolds, with calls from the suspended speaker and responses from the trio of speakers, in circular motions. Like our other sound installations, this work stimulates the space: acoustically, through the projection of sounds and their reflection and refraction; visually, through the projection of light and the various reflective surfaces that create vertical and dizzying distortions. The work creates relationships with the space, with visitors, and even with the other pieces in the exhibition.
